- INTRODUCING E.Q.Filer
- ---------------------
-
- What is E.Q.Filer?
-
- E.Q.Filer is a product for anyone who uses equations. It provides quick
- and easy access to formulas with clear and concise prompts. Before
- using any formula, the system will display the relevant equation and any
- descriptive notes. E.Q.Filer then goes on to accept data, with prompts
- input by you, and solve the equation. Any variable can be changed with
- instant results after the initial solution.
-
- Equations are input in single line format and checked upon entry for
- obvious errors such as unbalanced parenthesis or missing operators.
- After accepting an equation E.Q.Filer will accept prompts, which will be
- shown when the equation is executed, for each variable in the equation.
- An allowable range may be specified for all input variables and a fixed
- decimal may be established for the resultant.
-
- Executing equations is simplicity itself. Enter the equation name,
- select the required equation from a list of all equations in the system
- with the cursor keys , or use Function keys which may be assigned to the
- 9 most common equations. The formula and short descriptive text are
- displayed for your information. Confirm that you wish to execute the
- equation file and instantly the prompts for each variable in the equation
- will be displayed and input for these accepted. Range checking done, the
- system will pass the numbers input through the equation and immediately
- the answer is available. At this point a new result can be obtained by
- either changing all variables or one variable at a time.
-
- Using simple or highly complex equations was never this easy!

- CONFIGURATION AND INSTALLATION
- ------------------------------
-
- Before You Begin
- ----------------
- Before you begin setting up E.Q.Filer for your computer configuration un-ARC
- the EQF files onto a floppy diskette.
-
- Installing E.Q.Filer on a Floppy Drive
- --------------------------------------
- Your E.Q.Filer diskette is now ready for use. To start the system you may
- place the copy in drive A: and type "EQF".
-
- Installing E.Q.Filer on a Hard Drive
- ------------------------------------
- Insert the E.Q.Filer diskette into drive A: while on the hard drive in the
- required subdirectory (if preferred) and type "COPY A:*.*". That's all there
- is to it!
-
- To start the E.Q.Filer program enter the required subdirectory and type EQF.
-
- NOTE:
- The first time the system is started, on either a floppy or hard drive
- system, it will require the data files to be in drive A:. See the
- section below on configuration to change the default drive to the
- required volume.
-
- Configuring E.Q.Filer
-
- The first time E.Q.Filer is started it will appear on the screen in
- monochrome and will, regardless of the type of machine, use A: for its data
- files. To allow the system to accept alternative defaults select option five
- from the main menu, system configuration.
-
- The screen will now display the Function Key and Configuration Menu. The box
- on the left of the screen can be used to enter Function key definitions.
- Each line of this list refers to the function key name on its left. Once a
- key sequence has been assigned to a key that key, when pressed, will feed the
- program the characters contained in it just as if they has been typed at the
- keyboard. This function can save many many keystrokes if one equation is
- used often. For instance, if I wished to execute equation file ABC regularly
- I could assign function key 2 the sequence "ABC". Each subsequent press of
- F2 would simulate the key sequence ABC.
-
- A NOTE TO HARD DISK USERS:
- As soon as the system is booted from the hard disk it will look for the
- data files on drive A:. This option should be changed upon the first
- use of the system to the drive assignment for your hard disk so that the
- resident data files may be used.
-
-
-
- The next configuration option is the display type. The system comes
- defaulted to use a monochrome display. If you do have color you may find the
- program easier to use in more than one color. To change this default to
- color press "C".
-
- The final choice in the configuration setup is the delay time for system
- messages. All messages which are displayed for a short time and then cleared
- pause for a specified number of seconds. The time that these messages pause
- is variable to allow new users to the program to have time to read the
- messages and allow the delay time to be shortened once familiarity with the
- program is established. To change this setting enter the number of seconds
- you wish the system to pause with messages.
